Addiction is a dynamic disease that takes it’s toll on all areas of life.  For those seeking help to overcome problems related to alcohol or drug use, my years of experience woking in the addiction field has afforded me the skills needed to develop individualized treatment plans that will assist clients in gaining relief from the bonds of their addiction.  Therapy can serve as a means to uncover the underlying issues that fuel addiction, and learn new ways of coping with the stressors in life without turning to substances to “self medicate.”  Often times, the greatest barrier to seeking help for addiction is admitting that there is a problem in the first place.  What I have found is that therapy can be a safe place for clients to come and explore how pervasive the problem has become without fear of judgment.   From there, I provide clients with a blueprint for fostering their own road to recovery, whether this includes referrals for more intensive treatment and/or engagement in 12 step programs as an adjunctive component to their therapy.
