The title of “Marriage and Family Therapist” is somewhat of a misnomer when you consider the average therapist sees a majority of individual clients.  Individuals seek therapy for a number of reasons including relational problems, anxiety, depression, life direction, trauma, addiction, grief, family crisis, identity issues, and more.  While the length of individual therapy varies greatly, this type of therapy tends to be more complex and thus can extend to months, years, and for some individuals it can last a lifetime depending on the severity of their symptoms. What a person can hope to get from me is a mental health professional who will give the focused time, attention and care needed to help an individual find and navigate a pathway to a healthy, fulfilling life.
